In group projects, a majority of the core business competencies can be applied. However, communication becomes the most prominent skill that is used, especially when the group assignment is predetermined for you.
During the fall semester I was working on a project for my freshman business initiative class. I was assigned a group to work with and had to consistently keep in touch with group members. I learned that communicating with every group member became vital to efficiency. We all were required to figure out meeting times, inform each other when things changed, and continuously keep in touch. Communication became a valuable competency when trying to work on this project.
With strong communication skills, everything went well. The project was completed well in time and everyone was aware of all of the updates the project underwent. In conclusion, communication helped the project get completed in a timely manner and kept the relationship among group members healthy.
